WHITE SOX MEMORIES DVD REVIEW!!

soxmemories.jpg

Wuz good world dis ya boi White Sox Real Talk checking in with a special blog on the newly released White Sox Memories DVD on the complete history on my favorite team. What word can I use to describe this DVD…..WOW. Thats really the only word that i can use to describe this DVD. I mean it went way further than my expectations. It covers EVERYTHING from the 2 Championships in 1906 & 1917 all the way to the tie breaker game last year against the Twins. One chapter that i really enjoyed was the section on the Black Sox scandal, I liked this because it really shined light on the whole situation for me. I had always known about the lil parts of it with “Shoeless” Joe Jackson and the gang but i never knew the whole situation and it really showed that besides Game 1 the Sox actually tried to win that series. It then talks about the Bill Veeck Era.
billv.jpg
This part of the DVD shed some light on the former White Sox owner & talked about how he brought the excitement to Comiskey Field with his off field entertainment. Putting together events like fireworks, lightup score board & different themed days at the ball park which eventually lead to things like 70′s day that happen at Da Cell today. It brought me back a lil bit to when i was a shorty going to my first Sox game with my pops and how i used to enjoy hopping into the water chamber in center field where u would pull a string and the water would fall on my head during a hot game. That invention was also coined by Bill Veeck. After that they go into the Jerry Reinsdorf era and starts breaking down all the great division teams of ’83 & ’93 and even show the HR that was hit by Bo Jackson to clinch the ’93 AL West division title.
bo.jpg
Then it went into great detail about how the greatest one-two punch in Sox history was put together and of course I’m talking about Batman & Robin, Frank Thomas & Robin Ventura.
They talked about how they lead the youth movement of ’93 that lead to the AL West title. It then goes all the way up to the ’05 title & it really made you appreciated that championship even more by showing what the White Sox greats did to lead up to that. What made it even more of a great DVD was it had documentary style interviews from fromer Sox GM Roland Hemond, former players like Billy Pierce, Robin Ventura, Frank Thomas, Owner Jerry Reinsdorf, Bo Jackson, Actor & die-hard Sox fan Michael Clark Duncan & even former members of the ’05 team like Aaron Rowand, Jon Garland & Willie Harris. The Bonus clips were great too showing Jim Thome’s Walk-off 500th HR, all of the Sox postesaon clinchers from 93 to 08 and the last outs from all of the White Sox’s no-hitters. It  even has a great summary on The Big Hurt’s career. All in all it was a GREAT DVD and one i am glad i checked out, if you’re a die-hard Sox fan & bleed Black & White like me it is a definite must have. UNTIL NEXT TIME YALL PEACE!!!!!!!!!!!

BACK ON THEE ROAD AGAIN!!!

Wuz good world dis ya boi White Sox Real Talk checkin back in as the White Sox began a 7 game roadie in Cleveland. Coming into this game the Sox have won 2 straight games and 6 of their last 8 games and also evening their home record to .500 at 20-20, they also had a chance to get their overall record to .500 too with a W against the Indians. The White Sox went up early 2-0 in this game when  Gordon Beckham hit a RBI single in the 2nd to score Chris Getz. This was the start of a great game for “Bacon” as he went 3 for 3 with 2 RBI’s.
becks.jpg
The Indians didnt’t get any offense rolling until the 9th inning where they got 3 runs off Matt Thornton but Gavin Floyd continued his hot streak as he was untouchable again pitching 8.5 innings and giving up 0 runs.
flyod.jpg
Things got quite funny in the 7th inning as Indians manager Eric Wedge got ejected after arguing a call with the bases loaded when one of the Indians were called out on what he thought was a foul ball.
wedge.jpg
Things got a lil chippy as new Indians pitcher Chris Perez started throwing some wild pitches that hit Alexei & JD pretty good but fortunately wasn’t that bad.
man down lol.jpg
The Sox then went on to win 6-3 winning their third straight and are on their way to cutting the Tigers division lead to 4 games as they are getting routed 7-1 in the 8th inning to Oakland, now barring a miraclous comeback the sky is starting to get brighter for my Sox.
OTHER NOTES:
i’m super excited that my Sox complete history will be here tommorow i can’t wait to check it out look out for a blog on the DVD tommorow evening before the game.

BACON TO THE RESCUE!!!!!!!!!

The Crosstown Classic is FINALLY here!!!!!!!! Wuz good world dis ya boi White Sox Real Talk checkin back in with yall after an exciting Sox win. Now the reason I started this blog off with the statement “The Crosstown Classic is finally here” is because despite the fact that we played a series against the Cubs last week the excitement was never really there. I think the reason for that was that Sox/Cubs Round 1 Wrigley was a mid-week series and it took away a lil bit of its luster. But the excitement has been there this weekend baby, in the 1st game of this series the Cubs won(or the umpires won depending on who you talk too lol) a close game 5-4 in a thrilling game but today was the best game of the year between the two clubs. Coming into the game we were expecting a huge pitchers duel between Mark Buerhle & Ryan Dempster but what we got was a back in forth classic. The game started off early when the Sox got on top quickly with a 1-0 lead off a RBI Double by my favorite MLB player Jermaine Dye. Then Scotty Pods started off hot again(I will break down his performance later) extending the Sox lead to 2-0.
ERRORS:
great play.jpg
Errors was one of the mini sub plots of this game as Alexei Ramirez basically gave the Cubs 2 runs off his two errors(his  9th & 10th errors of the season by the way) Gordon Beckham also had 2 errors but he is a rookie so he get’s a pass but not Alexei he knows better. So fast foward to the 8th when Alexei redeemed his self a lil bit with his RBI single to tie the game at 7-7. Then on a 2-2 count with 2 outs and runners 1st & 2nd the rookie stepped up to the plate and won the game for my Southsiders & was mobbed at second base by his teammates.
soxmob.jpg
SCOTTY PODS 4 ALL-STAR!!!!!!!!!
scottypods.jpg
Scotty Pods is having a one of those “Renaissance years” as Shaq likes to call it lol batting well over .300 while going 4 for 5 yesteday with a HR. He has more RBI’s than Milton Bradley who unlike Pods has been playing the whole year. All in all a great win for the Sox as they also gained some ground with the Tigers losing to Houston for the 2nd straight game. Until next time yall….PEACE!!!!!!!!!!!!

SLOWLY SINKING….

ozzie1.jpg

Wuz good world dis ya boi White Sox Real Talk checkin back in after a horrible offensive performance by the Sox last night. What can i say about this team hmmm…….i got it, this years White Sox are kinda like when you’re on a plane that has a lot of turbulence and then the ride is smooth for about 5 minutes and then a huge dip occurs again.Just when you think that the Sox are gonna start rollin they put up a 4 hit, 2 run performance like they did last night. I blame this loss SOLELY on the White Sox weak offense because once again we blow another good performance from a Sox pitcher with bad no let me re-phrase that, horrendous offense.
jd50.jpg
Besides the rough two innings where he was pitching slower than usual John Danks was solid, he shut the Dodgers offense for 5 more innings. The main problem for us was this guy:
kuroda.jpg
Hiroki Kuroda, we made this guy look like a Hall of Famer. He almost CG us until JD hit an RBI single in the 9th to make it a 3 run ball game. Now while I was watching this horrible excuse for a baseball game I was also for the 1st time in my 20 years of life checking in on the Cubs game ONLY BECAUSE THEY WERE PLAYING THE TIGERS DON’T GET IT TWISTED LOL I wanted the Cubs to win for the first time in my life because the Tigers are leading our division then I almost forgot who I was watching as the Cubs used their God-given ability to LOSE off the bat of Ryan Rayburn as Kevin Gregg(which will bring me to another point later( gave up a win on the walkoff as he blew another save.
typical.jpg
Now with the Sox down 6 games in the division the real question is with the trade deadline approaching in like 5 weeks will Kenny Williams be a buyer or seller???? Now im not completely jumping off the boat yet because a 6 game lead is no where near insurmountable and also besides Justin Verlander that Tigers pitching staff & bullpen doesn’t invoke fear into me. Now with the 2nd half approaching soon you gotta be aware of the Piranhas.
mmboys.jpg
Right now they are just doing what they usually do, they stay afloat only being 4 games behind the Tigers and as soon as the 2nd half begins they do a transformation and become the deadly Pirannhas. Thats why the Sox need to get a run going because this will be a 3 headed race real soon and with nuthing but games at the dreaded Metrodome left against the Twins its gonna get real hard. So if I’m Kenny I would still be a buyer instead of a seller because if we can get one more solid starter I believe things will get REAL interesting with a 3 team battle between Tigers, Sox & of course the deadly Pirannhas for that AL Central title. Until next time yall…PEACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SOX TAKE 2 OF 3 FROM REDS; 6 GAME HOMESTAND NEXT!

bobbyaj.jpg

Wuz good world dis ya boi White Sox Real Talk checkin back in after a successful weekend series against the Reds of Cincinatti. White Sox came into this afternoon’s game after winning in a VERY sloppy manor in last night’s Civil Rights Game where they had 4 errors looking to take the rubber match in this series. Mark Buerhle was the story going in with his impressive 18-6 record in Interleague play and continued that hot streak today. No home Runs in this game as the Sox scored their first two runs in the 1st inning off a RBI single from A.J. and a fielders choice off a double play from Paulie. Dwise also scored a run off a double in the 9th. One great milestone did occur in this game when the Captain, Mr.Konerko scored his 1,000th career RBI in the 5th inning.
paulie.jpg
Bobby Jenks then came in the 9th and got his 17th save off the season(out of 19 tries) and the Sox got their 2nd straight win. Only bad news of the night is that the damn Tigers completed a sweep of the BrewCrew and kept the White Sox at 5 games behind in the Central.
da cell.jpg
Now the Sox will head home to Da Cell for 6 games where they will play round 2 of the Crosstown Classic against the wackest team in Chicago the Cubs lol(just another shot at you bums lol) but more bad news for my beloved lol the Sox are under .500 at home at 16-18 and will begin a 3 game set against the best ballclub in the Majors, The L.A. Dodgers. And we all remember the last 12 game homestand where we went 4-8 so we defintely need to pick it up at home.
OTHER NOTES:
-Jermaine Dye was scratched from the lineup this afternoon to give him 3 days off before the important Dodgers series starting on Tuesday.
ALSO CONGRATS TO MY MANS GORDON BECKHAM FOR HITTTING HIS 1ST MAJOR LEAGUE HR LAST NIGHT!!!

until next time….PEACE!!

BAD BAD OFFENSE!!!

cordero.jpg

Wuz good world dis ya boi White Sox Real Talk checking back in after a 2nd straight tough loss by my Sox. After blowing a 5-1 run lead with 2 outs in the 8th inning last night at the hands of the Cubs, The Sox arrived at Great American Ballpark in Cincinatti looking to take a W away from the Reds. Jose Contreras found his self back on the bump after giving up only 1 run in his last two starts. The Night started off well when Chris Getz hit his first Major League HR off Bronson Arroyo to give the Sox an early 2-0 lead. The Reds threaten in the next inning but the rally was killed by a great play by Alexei Ramirez when he threw out one of the Reds with a bare-handed throw to first.
great play.jpg
Just when things looked like they were going the Sox way, the old Jose Contereas showed up when he gave up a 2-Run bomb to right field off the bat of Brandon Philips as the Reds took a 3-1 lead.
brandon p.jpg
Sox then continued to get their bats silenced by Bronson Arroyo as he wouldn’t give up another run the rest of his outing. The Reds then added an insurance run in the bottom of the 8th to extend their lead to 4-2, a lead that they would not relinqush. Despite a solo jack by Paulie in the 9th Cordero shut the door on that comeback as the Reds won 4-3. All in all it was a pretty bad night for my beloved Sox as their offense consisted of a single, a double, & 2 HRs. Not that bad of an outing by Jose but just poor, poor offense. This just continues with my belief that htis team is just too Inconsistent to win back to back AL Central division titles. If one game the pitching is good then the offense isn’t etc. Just makes no sense and barring a comeback by Milwaukee tonight it looks like the Sox will be back to 5 games behind in the central. Hopefully we can get back on the winning side of things with Clayton Richard on the bump tommorow night. We will still need of a streak of 6 or 7 games before i get excited. Until next time yall…PEACE!!

VINTAGE JOSE

joseraw.jpg

Has Jose Contreras got his mojo back?? that is the question of the evening…Wuz good world dis ya boi White Sox Real Talk checkin in after another White Sox victory. Last night the Sox gave up a 2-0 lead in the 7th and gave up 7 straight runs to lose 7-2 & drop to 6.5 games under Tigers. That almost tempted me to write a breakup da squad blog but I held back lol. Today the Sox hopped on the Brew Crew early when they scored 6 runs in the 2nd inning off Manny Parra. It started when Gordon Beckham hit his first RBI’s of his career when he ripped off a double that scored 2 runs, then Jayson Nix scored two to make it 4-0. Paulie showed no signs of a injury when he scored 2 on a double to make it 6-0.Then Ramon Castro hit his 1st HR of the season to make it a 7-0 lead. Jose Contreras continued his hot streak since being called up going 7 innnings with giving no runs and struck out 8, in fact the Brewers only threatned once when they had bases loaded with 2 outs but after a very brief convo with Ozzie Jose got out the jam with a popup to 1st. So Sox win & Tigers also lost so that cut the deficit to just 5.5 games. I enjoyed the win but we seriously need to get a streak going again if we don’t want Kenny to breakup the team and let the youth movement OFFICIALLY begin.
kenny.jpg
Cuz believe me he will because he doesnt care about the media, perception, or feelings all he cares about is this:
soxring.jpg
Putting another WS ring on his & his players fingers, thats ALL he cares about. If that does happen & the Sox can’t get their act together than there are a few people who Kenny might get rid of. Those guys are Paulie, JD, Big Jim & I’ve even heard Bobby Jenks(if they trade Bobby by the way, there isnt a word in the dictionary to describe how pissed i would be.) So we will see what the record is looking like by All-Star break will we be in contention or will it be time for the crew that brought the Southside title #3 in 2005 time to breakup??? only the Sox players can decide that…until next time yall PEACE!!!

SCOTTY PODS TO THE RESCUE!, INTERLEAGUE COMING!!

podswins.jpg

Wuz good world dis ya boi White Sox Real Talk checkin back in after an exciting finish to last night’s Sox game. Coming into the game the Sox were reeling after losing 2 back to back close games to the Tigers and found theirselves not only in a 2 hour rain delay but in a 6.5 game hole in the division. After the rain went away it was time for the Sox to try to get this must-win game. Action picked up in the 4th when Jim Thome hit his 12th HR of the year to give the Sox a 1 run lead. Gavin Floyd continued to pitch well as he was pitching a shutout into the 8th inning until he gave up a HR to Ramon Santiago to cut it to a 2-1 lead.
gav.jpg
Then A.J. came up in da bottom of the 8th inning with his 6th blast of the campaign to push the lead back up to a 3-1 lead. So Big Bad Bobby Jenks comes in the 9th to close it out and gave up a lead off hit but got to two outs until one of my favorite players from Chicago Curtis Granderson hit a 2-run blast to right field to tie it 3-3.
granderson.jpg
Right at this moment i was shaking my head in disbelief like HERE WE GO AGAIN!!! but i was wrong as Brian Anderson lead off the bottom of the 9th with a lead off single then a PERFECT bunt by Chris Getz lead to a game winning RBI for Scott Podsednink to win the game. Now with that win the White Sox pretty much saved their season…FOR NOW with the hole going down to 5.5 games behind Detroit. Now interleague play will begin with 3 series against NL Central teams starting today with the Brewers. Now so keynotes to remember is that Paul Konerko got injured 2 nights ago and will prolly miss the series & Jim Thome, who has been hot of late will be reduced to just a pinch-hitter with the pitcher having to bat in the NL parks. So we will see what happens until next time…PEACE!!!
